SCDOT Road Maintenance – Maintenance Work Request Form:
SCDOT has recently improved and simplified its online maintenance work request form, making it easier for citizens to submit a request to fix a pothole, clean a drainage ditch or other maintenance of a state road. The form can be found at the bottom of the front page of the scdot.org website. The link is here:
Citizens can easily and quickly fill out the online form. Once submitted, the request is routed to the specific SCDOT work group so it can be addressed.
Customer Service Center:
Citizens may also call the SCDOT Customer Service Center to request road maintenance assistance. The toll-free number is 855-GO-SCDOT (855-467-2368). The Center is available from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
Is my road maintained by the State?
SCDOT maintains and operates more than 41,000 miles of roads and bridges across South Carolina. Ours is the fourth largest state-maintained road network in the nation. (In other states, local governments and other entities maintain a much larger portion of the total road network.)
While most roads in South Carolina are state-maintained, SCDOT does not maintain local, county or private roads. Using SCDOT’s Streetfinder application, citizens can determine whether or not a specific road is a state maintained road. The link to the Streetfinder application is here:

If Streetfinder indicates that a road is not SCDOT maintained, you may want to call your local SCDOT office the County for more information.
