The state budget for 2024-2025 includes funds for critical needs in South Carolina along with taxpayer relief. Some highlights include:

  • $100 million in accelerated and permanent income tax relief
  • an increase to the teacher salary schedule for all teachers
    • with first-year teachers starting at $47,000
  • $30 million for Education Scholarship Trust Funds
  • $1.6 million for salary increases for the Highway Patrol
  • $200 million for county transportation committees to use on county roads and bridges
  • $100 million for state bridge repair
  • $117 million for rural roads
  • $34.5 million for veterans nursing homes
