I trust that everyone is aware that during 2017 we saw five more indictments in the ongoing Statehouse corruption probe and that on top of two in late 2016. We also have seen two guilty pleas, and the investigation is ongoing. The bottom line is that at least some of the political network managed by the Quinn family have been run to ground by the special prosecutor, and the junior Quinn pleaded guilty and resigned his SC House seat. I expect more to come, and I expect the fallout to be significant. Your senator, for the record, has never done business with the Quinns or their affiliates.
Somehow I never find value in ethics committees run by the ethics violators. In my experience, this becomes nothing more than a weapon to attack your political opponents. I would move for an independent committee dedicated to being a watchdog for the actions of politicians. Of course, its independence would eventually be eliminated.
It seems to be like the old folks use to say ( grandpa included )
They all are crooked and the one with the most money is going to win or they would also say the one they won’t be in there is who will be win or they will do what they won’t to do no matter what the votes won’t them to do that put there butts in there. ( LINDA GRAHAM ) comes to mine.
Now we know this is not always the truth but DARN if it doesn’t seem to be though.
