I am honored to serve as the chairman of the Senate Corrections and Penology Committee, and our committee recently passed legislation to ensure that death penalty sentences are carried out in SC. One protects the identities of lethal injection drug producers so that they avoid harassment by militant liberals. The other brings back the electric chair as an option in case the lethal drugs are not available. These bills are not commentary on the death penalty, which I fully support, but they do seek to ensure that the statutes now in effect can be upheld. I look forward to them becoming law soon.
Shane, before law makers go too far too fast on new gun controls, because of recent school shootings, I have a suggestion. Don’t arm the teachers, but set up several locked armouries around the school. These armouries could have several layers of security. The idea is to not give guns to teachers/administrators, but give them quick access to guns. I’m afraid we’re going to change laws too quickly and think we have solved the problem.
Please get both bills passed. Another serial killer like todd kohlhepp should not be given a life sentence.
