During the motion period, State Senator Kevin Bryant called for a vote on a Registration by Party bill which was soundly defeated. As usual, there were only a few of us who were in favor of passing such a bill. As long as Democrats are allowed to keep voting in our Republican Primary Elections, then as a state we will continue to elect mostly RINOs. As long as most of our elected officials are RINOs, we will not get registration by party. This is what is commonly called a Catch 22 from the novel by Joseph Heller with the same name regarding bureaucratic conundrums during WWII. At one point in the book, a character states, “Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can’t stop them from doing.” It seems we have no shortage of folks living by that rule in Columbia.
Thanks for defeating this bill…..it would only complicate the election process. I do encourage you to vote against H 3015 if it makes it to the Senate….this proposal allows voters to return their absentee ballot to their polling location on election day….this is nonsensical…Absentee voting is for people who will be absent from their voting location on election day. If they can bring their “absentee ballot” to their voting location on election day, then they are not absent!!!!!!
Shane I have always voted the man or woman and not necessarly the party line. I have voted in the Republican Primarys several times and I voted for that same Republican in the General Election. I have done the same in the Democratic primarys and General elcetions as well.
Sometimes I think party affiliation gets in the way of doing the right thing. Folks like me are so upset over the elected officals we sent to Washington. It seems we the taxpayers are paying salaires of folks that can’t get anything done. It always seems to be taken to the cliff before folks finally come to their senses and do the right thing.
I understand why you are wanting this to pass and I tend to agree with you. I just wish people elected to State and Federal Offices would fight as hard as you do to do the right thing.
We will never agree on everything but why can’t we agree to disagree and move on and do the right thing for our State and Nation.
I also am so put out with our Govenor. She at times is an embarassment to this great state. People talk about the reason she ran for Govenor the second time was to assure her a job in Washington should a Republican President be elected.
Well we are proud fo you and will contniue to support you as long as you want us too.
God Bless You.
Jerry & Ann Casey .
I consider myself an independent. I think everyone should be able to vote for whom they want regardless of party affiliation.
Democrats can vote for a Republican and also Republicans can vote for Democrats or anyone they want.
Any Attempts to restrict a persons voting rights should be rejected strongly.
I’m shocked. It sounds like you are trying to restrict a persons right to vote for whom they choose.
Shane I am a conservative pastor in your area and am proud of what you are trying to get accomplished in Columbia. Keep up the good work and I will keep praying for you. I do feel this Catch 22 is a problem and would love to see the Registration by Party bill passed.
Our reg. system is absolutely the stupidest thing we do in S.C.
Until the RINOS are gone like Harrell etc. we will never be able to
get anywhere !! Jim
This is a big problem for us and it isn’t fair. The system can always be gamed. However, we should make it as difficult as possible to game the system by making it law to register to vote by party. Let’s get this stuff out of here.
STATE SENATOR SHANE MARTIN.
SHANE ,PLEASE REPEAL,OR CORRECT THE LAW CHANGE THAT ALLOWS NON LAND OWNERS TO HUNT UP TO THE PROPERTY LINE.. THE 300 YARD RULE ALLOWED MUCH SAFETY, PLUS HELP CONTROL TRESPASSING.
