I wish to inform you of my actions relative to the proposed resettlement of refugees in Spartanburg. Since Mid-March, I have been emailing Congressman Trey Gowdy’s office information regarding this issue. Congressman Gowdy has demanded answers from the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, and I applaud him for that. You can read his letter here: https://gowdy.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/gowdy-requests-information-spartanburg-refugee-resettlement-program
Some of my colleagues in the SC House of Representatives have asked Governor Nikki Haley, who must approve the program in the first place, for additional information. Governor Haley is the only one in SC with the power to actually put a stop this and I hope that she takes a position on this issue soon!
I have written to the SC Department of Social Services (DSS), the cabinet agency responsible for conducting this program in SC, if it indeed is carried out. SC DSS must follow several federal statutes which require specific accountability measures. You may read my email here by clicking here.
I have received no reply from SC DSS, and to my knowledge, no other inquiries have been answered either. This only serves to heighten my concern. I will work to keep this issue in the public eye, through media and other outlets, until we all get some answers from the government officials responsible for this program. I will update you further as we get more information, and with your help, we will do all we can to stop the importation of dangerous individuals into our hometown.
Keep up the good work.
Shane, very impressed regarding your actions, it is about time this government have to answer for all the stupid S that they keep shoving down the peoples throat!!!!! You will go a long way if you hold their feet to the fire and keep the people informed with the truth!!!!! It has gotten to the point that everything that is reported is slanted to fulfill some bodies pockets!!!!!kindest regards to the family!!!!! :):)
I have heard a permanent refugee office is coming to Spartanburg. With the way things are going in the world I think it would be a bad idea and ruin our town to bring refugees here.Thousands of Somali refugees were settled up north and they are mostly living on government handouts.Hundreds of radical Somali Islamic youths have joined ISIS.I would hate to see Spartanburg turn out this way. They are not assimilating in american society.
Since sending the last email I have read on the internet that the government has a list of about 150 cities in the U.S. it plans on sending refugees. They are called seed cities. They start out sending a few refugees and each year they send more and more until there is more refugees than the city.St.Cloud Minnesota has already been flooded with Islamic Somali refugees. Athens,Ga.is also on the list. They are also asking questions and getting no response.Governor Haley needs to get involved.
[…] For those who may have missed it, Trey Gowdy sent a rather pointed letter to John Kerry regarding this matter and you can click here for more information on that. […]
My grandparents were immigrants and very hard working. We have a labor shortage here and a few more helping hands would be welcome. Let them come!
I believe the immigrants should return to their own country and be part of a citizen group to repair what is broken in their own government. Our poor management and disregard for security at our borders AND taking the bite out of ICE with Biden’s wholesale budget cuts are responsible. What have to control the borders or our country may end up being an Hispanic speaking country. English will get buried as our culture and government gets inundated by Hispanics.
