I am proud to report that the General Assembly took one more step toward protecting innocent life by passing a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy except in the cases of a definite threat to the life of the mother. The bill passed the Senate long ago, but it took the House several weeks to push it through. We heard all of the usual arguments about the eventual tests in federal courts that might upend the bill, but you all didn’t send me down here to check first with liberal judges before I vote. We can’t wait on a court to decide that unborn children don’t deserve to die on a whim. I hope that we’ll keep moving on this with more legislation next year.
